DARWEN Morris dancers got off to a flying start in their first competition of 2008 with four of their teams earning top places.

The club, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, took five teams of girls to a competition in Golborne last Sunday, where they competed against 10 other teams, from Fleetwood to North Wales.

The Babies team of girls up to the age of five came first in their section, as did the Juniors team for girls up to the age of 17.

Seniors, for members over 17, came second, and the Dinkies third in their section. Tinies, for girls up to 14, were not placed.

The team will be in action again this Sunday at Walton Sports centre, near Liverpool.

The club is always on the look-out for more girls to join.

Members train at Chapels School, Darwen, on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6.30pm and anyone interested in finding out more about the club is asked to go along to those sessions.
