ACCRINGTON'S new health centre will be given a Royal seal of approval.
The £7.5million Accrington Pals Primary Health Care Centre - named in honour of the town's First World War heroes - will be officially opened by Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, on March 13.
The Paradise Street centre was built, alongside the new Acorn Health Centre and the Oak House Dental Centre, as part of an £18 million investment in the town by East Lancashire Primary Care Trust.
Chief Executive David Peat said: "We are honoured that our health centre will be given an official Royal opening.
"Already, thousands of local people are using the community-based services on offer and it is proving to be a big hit with local residents.
"We have received much praise and appreciative comments from local people.
"It's all part of our efforts to bring services closer to people's homes and into community settings.
"It will also enable many services to be brought out of big hospital sites at Blackburn and Burnley and closer to home."
