PUPILS at St Anne's Edgeside Primary School are on a mission to get active following a visit from a children's charity.

The youngsters at Ashworth Road in Waterfoot, raised £261 for MedEquip4Kids and their school by taking part in the Get Active with Pip' programme, which has been created in conjunction with Manchester Primary Care Trust.

Pupils learned about the five steps to keep healthy - healthy eating, drinking water, staying active, getting enough sleep, and personal hygiene.

They were then each given a free pedometer and mini beanbag as an incentive to notch up as many steps as possible each day and shown a number of fun exercises to do along with educational games to play at home.

Following the presentation, pupils asked family to make a donation for completing the games.

The school was presented with a sports goody bag made up of a variety of equipment.
