police have urged residents to be extra vigilant after a spate of sneak-in thefts in Rossendale.
Between 7.30pm and 7.58pm on February 24, offenders got into a house through an unlocked window in Douglas Road, Bacup, and stole car keys to a Mazda, registration YD57 LGO worth £15,000, which they drove away.
A silver Skoda Octavia was stolen from Dearden Fold, Edenfield, between 6.30pm and 10pm on February 19, when thieves entered an unlocked door and grabbed the car keys from a nearby shelf. An Xbox 260 and a computer game were also taken from Burnley Road when thieves got in through an unlocked door.
Crime prevention officer Phil Buck said: "Taking simple measures should ensure your property remains safe.
"You should always lock your door and windows, even when you are in the property.
"Take your keys to bed - don't leave them by the front door where a thief could easily grab them and make off with your vehicle."
