POLICE have launched an investigation into a head-on collision between a motorist and a police car on an emergency call.

A woman driver, in her 40s, was injured in the collision with the police car in New Market Street, Colne, last Wednesday, at 11.30am.

Both drivers were treated at Airedale General Hospital for minor injuries and released the same day.

Sgt Gareth Hill, of the Pennine Road Policing Unit, said: "The police car was responding to a blue light emergency.

"We have launched an internal investigation into the incident.

"The private vehicle emerged into the path of the passing police vehicle. Data recorders in the police vehicle will help establish the speed of the police car.

"We will be looking at the driver's conduct and if anyone was driving dangerously."
