After speaking with landlord Keith Bateson of the Railway Hotel, I have been told of, what sounds like a great night out.

Celtic Vibes is a four piece band but The Railway Hotel has secured two of them to come down and play some tunes on Saturday March 8.

Keith and Cath will be preforming a selection of music using their instruments.

Keith plays guitar and does vocals, and Cath, although young, is a highly talented musician, with skill in flutes, penny whistle and the uillean pipes.

For those of you who don't know, uilleann pipes are a version of the more-recognisable Scottish bagpipes.

Uilleann (pronounced 'ill-awn') pipes are the national bagpipes of Ireland. Whereas Scottish pipes are played by blowing into a mouth piece to inflate the bag, the uilleann pipes are inflated and therfore played, by a set of small bellows which are strapped around the waist and attached to the right arm.

They are also known as 'Union pipes'. There you go, you learn somehting new everyday - I know I have.

You may also get to see landlord Keith joining in with his bodhran. That's worth a pint at least!
