A PRIMARY school has been given permission to put up fences around its playground.

Governors of Egerton Primary School, in Cox Green Road, Egerton, hope the fence will improve security for pupils and keep out vandals.

Brian Clough, the school's agent, told councillors on the planning committee: "There are four points of public access and we want to improve security for the children.

"We have had a number of incidents of vandalism, as well as problems with dog fouling, litter and broken glass.

"Outdoor activities was the only section of an Ofsted report in which the school fell below outstanding, so this needs to be addressed."

Councillors approved the application.

Cllr Norman Critchley said: "This must be one of the only schools in Bolton that does not have an adequate fence and one is urgently needed."

And Cllr Andy Morgan said: "There are also plans to put in a vegetable plot, which helps with the healthy schools initiative."

You could start the vegetable plot off with,
Andrew declen ragreader eric and the likes ready grown vegetables here,
Will this fence be like the one that residents whinged at and will have to be taken down,
Just shoot the scrotes that will stop the vandalism or fine the parents of these scrotes no probably not you would have to give them more benefits.

A vegetable plot sounds a good idea to me. It may encourage the kids to grow vegetables in their own gardens.

I remember a time when schools didn't need fences at all. A sad reflection on todays society...

I remember a time when, to get into a school, you only needed to work out how to use a door handle and not numerous keypads, push-buttons and "open when buzzer sounds" commands.

Still, if this is what we need to keep children safe, then so be it.

Don, you should be aware that in indulging in threatening behaviour you have broken the law. Were I to report to the police the BN may be obliged to give up your IP address and your ISP your details. You seem to think apparent anonymity gives you licence to post anything without reference to the law, You are wrong. The threatening behaviours is clear cut hut I would imagine some your more injudicious posts on racial matters would also be deserving of investigation.

He obviously does't go round the schools much why not try blackshaw primary in summerton rd.

I suppose that will keep them safe i do wonder what's next.
