A train hit a child's scooter resulting in an evacuation of passengers.

Over the weekend a train travelling towards Darwen train station was forced to pull into the station and passengers evacuated after it became disabled when it hit a child's scooter that had been recklessly thrown onto the tracks.

Luckily no-one was injured and the driver was able to move the train into the station safely.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "Network Rail requested assistance with evacuating a train near Darwen station, after the train became disabled when it hit a child’s scooter which had been thrown onto the track.

"Fortunately the driver was able to move the train into the station, and officers were cancelled."
