A BABY boy has died after it is believed he choked on one of his brother's toys.

Benjamin Hazelwood, one, of Florence Avenue, Burnley died on Friday November 9 after appearing to choke on a small plastic fireman toy that was given to his two-year-old brother, Peter, as a birthday present a few days earlier.

Benjamin who had only turned one 11 days before, was playing with Peter and his father Neil Hazelwood, 41, when Benjamin stopped moving.

Mr Hazelwood had realised that something was wrong when Peter crawled onto him and he did not move.

He was rushed to Royal Blackburn Hospital where doctors tried to resuscitate him, but he died shortly after.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out this week.

Mr Hazelwood said:" I was playing with Peter and Benjamin, when I turned around Benjamin was completely still, It was just like he was asleep "I realised something was really wrong when Peter crawled onto him and he did not move."

His mother Jane Tatersall, 29 said:"Benjamin was such a happy, giggling little boy. He was always dancing and full of life.

"We want his funeral to be a celebration of his life, we want everyone to wear bright coloured clothes and not be sad.

"His favourite songs by Girls Aloud and Shakira will be played at the funeral.

"He is going to be buried in a Burnley FC strip as we are all claret fans and we are sure Benjamin would have been."

"We are also hoping to have a party after the funeral instead of a wake."

An inquest into his death is due to be set and a funeral is due to be held in the next few weeks.

He leaves sister Cassandra 18, Danielle 11, Annabelle, four, Alisha, five, and Peter, two.
