A DISABLED man was attacked and robbed as he made his way to work in Accrington.

The 37-year-old man was attacked as he walked along the cycle track between Mount Street and Manchester Road between 6am and 6.30am on Tuesday.

He was approached by four males, one of whom knocked him to the floor whilst the others repeatedly kicked him. The offenders then stole his MP3 player.

DC Mark Cruise said: "This was a cowardly attack on a vulnerable man and I urge anyone with information to come forward.

"These offenders have preyed on a man who was unable to fight back and he was left with cuts and bruises and was extremely distressed by the ordeal.

"I appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around Mount Street and Manchester Road to contact the police. We are also aware of four males who were seen shortly after the incident on Marsden Street, Accrington and I appeal to anyone who saw these men to come forward."
