A CYCLIST from Rawtenstall is fighting for his life after being involved in a road accident in Burnley.
The 44-year-old was riding along the A646 New Road, Burnley, when he was involved in an collision with a blue Toyota Avensis at the junction with Woodplumpton Road at 7.10pm on Wednesday.
Police say the car, which was driven by a 54-year-old man from Burnley, was travelling in the opposite direction at the time of the incident.
The injured man was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where his condition was today described as 'critical'.
Sgt Gareth Hill, of the Pennine division road policing unit said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who saw this collision and would urge any witnesses to contact us on 0845 1 25 35 45."
