Pendleside Hospice and Rosehill Post Office are encouraging people to lighten their purses and pockets and dig down the backs of their sofas for loose change.
Organisers of the Penny Trail Appeal hope to collect enough pennies to complete a trail from the post office to the hospice and raise over £4,000 to boost hospice funds.
Postmaster Steve Harvey, pictured, has already helped to raise over £12,000 for the hospice by selling secondhand books.
To help, collect a money bag to fill from the hospice reception or the post office.
Organisations can call the hospice on 01282 440100 for multiple bags.
