A 15-YEAR-OLD boy sent a few text messages - and won a scooter.
Sam Shields, from Read, deputy head boy at Mount Carmel School, Accrington, was researching scooters ahead of his 16th birthday in July.
He found a website called getagrip.uk.com a Harrogate-based scooter importer.
It was running a competition in which the 300th person to text won a £1,000 scooter.
He quickly texted and was told he was 294th, so he quickly sent six more messages.
But the company had made a mistake and the website should have said the 3,000th person to text won the scooter.
However, the company honoured what was on the web and gave him the scooter.
