A WOMAN who has worked for more than a decade to help children affected by a nuclear disaster has been to Buckingham Palace to receive her MBE from the Queen.
Olwyn Keogh set up the Friends of Chernobyl's Children 12 years ago in Wilpshire, and was recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
Now living in Chipping, Mrs Keogh was inspired to help children affected in the wake of the nuclear disaster which struck the Ukrainian town of Chernobyl in April 1986.
The charity has now spread nationwide and there are 32 groups that take in young children from eastern Europe for a holiday each year.
