BUDDING entrepreneurs in Burnley are being urged to follow in the footsteps of a successful sandwich emporium which has raced out of the blocks.

With the backing of Burnley Enterprise, The Pit Stop, in Padiham Road, has had a turbo-charged first 12 months.

Boss Lindsay Moorhouse attended a National Entrepreneurial Scholarship (NES) programme, before launching her Formula One-themed eaterie.

She said: "I've always wanted to set up my own business so when I heard about the NES programme, I jumped at the chance."

The 12-week course taught her the ins and outs of book-keeping and business planning, and she also qualified for a £1,500 scholarship to invest in new equipment for her shop.

Now details of the 2008 NES programme, which will take place from January to March, have been unveiled and other high-fliers are being urged to follow trail-blazer Lindsay. She plans to expand her business to provide outside catering.
