A 33-YEAR-OLD Great Harwood man attacked two strangers for no apparent reason.

Blackburn magistrates heard the two young men were approached by John Anthony Clayton who asked if they were having a good night.

Then, without warning he punched one of them on the nose and the other in the neck.

He then waited for the police to arrive, admitted what he had done and said; "yes, lock me up."

Clayton, of Wordsworth Drive, pleaded guilty to assaulting Martin Henshaw and Scott Lomax.

He was given a conditional discharge for two years and ordered to pay them each £100 compensation and £50 costs.
