A THIEF ripped a pensioner's handbag from her shoulder as she made her way to play bingo.
The 77-year-old woman, who was with a friend, was on her way to the Empire bingo hall when the incident happened.
She had walked to the junction of Blackburn Road and Oxford Street in Accrington at 7.10pm on Saturday November 3 when she was attacked but police have only just released details.
The woman was approached by a man who grabbed her handbag and tore it from her shoulder before running off.
The man then turned left and ran down Blake Street, towards Frederick Street.
Police are investigating the street robbery and are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
DC Mark Cruise said: "This was a cowardly attack on an innocent and elderly lady.
"She has been left extremely shaken by the ordeal and I urge anyone who can assist with our inquiries to contact us."
The man is described as slim, approximately 5ft 11ins to 6ft tall and was wearing dark clothing.
