A TEENAGE boy has been left with a gruesome injury after he was hurled from his bike in a skate park accident.

Krzysztof Kobeszko, aged 13, suffered a "tennis ball hole" in his groin muscles when he fell from his bike in the skate park off Hutchinson Way, Radcliffe, on Thursday.

As he cycled down a ramp on a friend's white BMX bike, it is understood the tyre hit a stone, the bike flipped, and Krzysztof landed on the handlebar, stabbing him in the groin.

St Monica's RC High School pupil Krzysztof tried to make his way home, but collapsed on the pavement. His friends called an ambulance and he was rushed to North Manchester General Hospital, then transferred to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

Three days later, following a CT scan, X-ray and operation, the youngster will soon be allowed to return to his Radcliffe home for recovery.

Mum Agnieszka Kobeszko, aged 39, said: "It has been a very stressful time. We have been in and out of hospital.

"We were initially told Krzysztof had two bleeds inside his body where he had fallen into the bike handlebar. The CT scan did not show which organs were bleeding so he had to undergo an operation.

"The surgery found that his internal organs were unaffected but he was left with a tennis ball hole in his groin muscles.

"Hospital staff said he has the best guardian angel looking after him."

Ms Kobeszko, was at home in St Thomas' estate when she received a call from her son. She said: "He was saying 'I'm not well, I fell off the bike, I'm in pain'.

"I asked if he was able to get himself back home and he said he would try."

A friend called 999 and friends also covered Krzysztof with jumpers and other clothing to keep him warm.

Ms Kobeszko: "I had another call 10 minutes later from someone who was with him. They were calling for an ambulance and asked me to come quickly.

"I found him on the ground, wrapped in jumpers."

Krzysztof went into theatre at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital at 10.30am on Saturday, May 5, for a three-hour operation.

He is now recovering in hospital and is expected to be released home later today.

Ms Kobeszko said: "I want to say a huge thank you to the boys who helped him at the park. I'm very thankful for what they did. They were amazing.

"This could have been far worse if they did not jump in straight away.

"I would like to thank the paramedics from both ambulances and all the staff at both hospitals who helped my son, and to all my friends for all their prayers and support."

Krzysztof had been wearing a helmet while playing at the skate park.
