STRICTLY Come Dancing stars should move aside for the talented young people of St Joseph’s RC High School pupils.

The school in Horwich held a spectacular dance and drama evening with performers from Year Seven and 10 taking part.

For some Just Dance Volume 1 was the first time some pupils had taken to the stage in front of an audience.

Samantha Flanagan said: "The dances were spectacular, there were contemporary solo dances, street dance duets, Irish dancing trios, the St Joseph’s dance troop and the St Josephs cheerleading team.

"The drama piece from Year Seven was a performance where 'another Hogwart year begins as a muggle finds out he is a wizard...'. The drama piece by Year Eight was a performance where 'a human falls into a jungle environment, they discover after meeting some well known characters that she is in the world of the jungle book, what will happen to her?"

She added: "The evening was very well attended and supported by a number of staff. Mr McCabe, the headteacher met with the cast during the interval and then spoke about the phenomenally talented pupils at St Josephs at the end of the show."

So successful and enjoyable was the evening, the pupils are already working on putting a programme of dance and drama together for “Just Dance Volume 2” which has been added to the school calendar for February 2019.

Mrs Flanagan said: "Mrs Harris organised the evening and is extremely proud of all pupils that took part. She posted on the schools Facebook site that ‘If you think positively, sound becomes music, movement becomes dance, smiles become laughter, mind becomes meditation and life becomes a celebration’."
