A PENSIONER was seen by neighbours pleasuring himself on his front doorstep.

Blackburn magistrates heard four different witnesses reported William Gordon, 80, after seeing him with his pants round his ankles.

The court was told one of the witnesses had her 15-year-old daughter with her when she saw him.

Gordon, of New Wellington Mews, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to 10 charges of intentionally exposing his genitals.

He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with a 12-day rehabilitation activity requirement and ordered to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

He was put on the sex offender register for two years.

Alex Mann, prosecuting, said all the witnesses reported that Gordon appeared to be performing a sexual act when they saw him outside the front of his house.

“They give various accounts of his pants being around his ankles and him being naked from the waist down, said Mrs Mann.

“The charges cover a period of about four months up until September last year.”

Richard Prew, defending, said his client had initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea when it was pointed out there were four separate witnesses who had all seen the same thing.

“He has always maintained that he has no recollection of these incidents,” said Mr Prew.

He said his client had a pug dog.

“He had been letting the dog out in the morning and it seems that is when these offences have been taking place,” said Mr Prew.

He said Gordon had no family living locally and was a very lonely man.

“He simply sits at home watching TV,” said Mr Prew.
