GROUPS and organisations in the Horwich and Blackrod area are being invited to bid for a share of a £4,000 pot of cash.

The Rotary Club of Horwich is giving away the money via a Dragon’s Den style event on Wednesday June 6 at Horwich RMI.

The cash will be allocated in varying amounts, up to a maximum of £500, for deserving local groups which are helping local people.

The bids must be for a specific purpose, not just to help general funds.

A group of ‘Dragons’ will vet the bids and selected candidates will be invited, along with their supporters, to present their case in two minutes on the night.

This event was held two years ago and several local groups received funding to support their projects.

A rotary spokesman said it provided a chance for local groups and organisations to acquire much-needed equipment or provide a service they have longed to deliver.

When they present their case in the ‘Den’, the other groups there will be able learn something of their activities and this may result in some groups working more closely together in the future.

Applications must be made on the official form, available either by ringing Rachel on 01204 493079, or going to the website horwichrotary.co.uk for full details. The closing date for applications is Thursday, May 10.
