A MAN has been arrested following a police chase this morning.

Police pursued the car after reports it was 'being driven dangerously' in St Huberts Street, Great Harwood, at around 9.15am. 

The vehicle was followed by officers before stopping in Burnley Road, Blackburn.

Several men fled the scene, with officers later arresting a man in the Devon Road area of the town. 

The 28-year-old from Blackburn was later arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and is currently in custody.

An eyewitness described seeing a number of police cars 'drive past at high speed'.

He said: "I'd just come off the M65 heading back towards Blackburn when I saw a number of police cars drive past at high speed.

"It was quite scary and they came to a halt and stopped traffic for a few minutes."

A police spokesman said: "We were called around 9.15am today following reports a car was being driven dangerously in St Huberts Street, Great Harwood.

"The vehicle was followed by officers before stopping in Burnley Road.

"Several men made off from the scene, with police later arresting a man in the Devon Road area.

"A 28-year-old man from Blackburn was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and is currently in custody."
