Tony Mowbray felt Rovers’ options in attack were key to their 3-0 win over Blackpool at Ewood Park.

Bradley Dack put Rovers in front in first-half stoppage time, with Mowbray describing the opening 45 minutes as ‘stodgy’.

Adam Armstrong followed up his player of the month with a second-half double, including a terrific curling effort after being teed up by Dack.

The win maintained Rovers’ place at the top of League One and means they have won five of their last seven matches.

Mowbray said: “It’s a big win. We’ve spoken about how important every game is between now and the end of the season and how much focus we need.

“We can almost see the finish line but had to concentrate today; it was a dangerous game for us with their recent results.

“They’ve won away at Portsmouth and Wigan and I’m sure Gary Bowyer will have had them up for this as a former manager here.

“We knew it was a dangerous game but we put in a professional performance.

“I said to the lads that if we can keep it solid at the back, we’ve got the players who can make a difference and win a game for us at the other end. That’s the way it went today.”

On the first-half, Mowbray added: “It was a stodgy first half and it was difficult to get any flow in the game.

“There were a lot of players in midfield cancelling each other out, but Charlie Mulgrew whipped a ball in just before half time and Dacky scores, so that allowed us to settle down.

“We played with a bit more composure in the second half, knowing that they would come onto us and we could exploit that speed up front. That’s what we managed to do.”
