AMATEUR Operatic Society, New Rosemere continues to hit the right note!

The society, which can trace its roots back to the mid-1900s, has successfully secured charitable status enabling it to carry on its work in promoting arts and culture in Bolton.

The news comes as its staged a hugely successful concert featuring music from stage and screen at St Paul's Church, Astley Bridge.

It is opening its door to new members to enjoy the magic and drama of theatre.

Katherine Seager, publicity officer for the company, said: "2018 has got off to a great start for New Rosemere — our concert at St Paul's was full and we received excellent feedback from our audience.

"We have just successfully secured charitable status, which will open up so many opportunities for us to continue advancing and promoting the arts in Bolton.

"If members of the public would like to support the society in our new capacity as a charity, we have a 'Friends of New Rosemere' scheme that offers exclusive perks and discounts for an annual subscription."

People can sign up for one of three members, Bronze, Silver and Gold — priced form £15 to £60 for year. Perks range from discounted or free tickets to drink and reserved parking.

This summer, the society is inviting everyone to experience being on stage.

Katherine said: "We are particularly excited to hold a 'Come and sing family musicals' day and concert at the Barlow, Edgworth, on July 14 — this will allow us to give people of all ages a taster of what it's like to perform on stage; whether they're seasoned performers or would just like to see what it's all about."

New Rosemere will bring the Pirates of Penzance to the stage later this month.

Katherine said: "For this year's show, 'Pirates of Penzance', we are delighted to have a number of new members joining the society. Several of them joined as a result of attending one of our sing days last year, which just highlights what a great chance it is for people to come and experience what it's like to be a part of New Rosemere."

The show will take to the stage on March 20 to March 24 at The Parish Hall Theatre, Christ Church, Walmsley.

"Pirates of Penzance' is selling fast and set to be a great show, so we would encourage people to book their tickets ASAP to avoid disappointment," said Katherine.
