HOARDINGS have gone up in Bank Street as the council prepares for its town centre masterplan.
Grey-painted hoardings have been put up across two properties in the street, including former-The Late Club.
A council spokesman said: “We are erecting hoardings to secure the site — this is an area of significant strategic importance given its location as a gateway site to the town centre.
“Church Wharf is one of our five key intervention sites in our town centre masterplan.”
Bolton Council announced its £1 billion masterplan in September last year and it plans to turn the Church Wharf area into a designated town centre quarter.
The council plans to put a mix of apartments and town houses in the area as well as a new pedestrian route along the River Croal.
Bolton Council is planning to put £100 million into the ambitious town centre redevelopment proposals, but it is expected that private sector investment will push the overall value of the scheme to £1 billion.
