Rovers attacker Adam Armstrong and boss Tony Mowbray have been shortlisted for the League One player and manager of the month awards respectively.

Armstrong hit four goals in February, including a double in the 2-1 win at Portsmouth and an equaliser against Oldham Athletic on his 21st birthday.

He joined Rovers on loan in January and reunited himself with Mowbray who he previously worked with at Coventry City in 2015/16.

Of Armstrong, the panel said: “Brought pace and directness to the Rovers attack with four goals and an assist – all in the month in which he turned 21. A perfect foil for Danny Graham, he demonstrated the confidence of youth with two cool finishes at Portsmouth.”

Armstrong, who netted in Sunday’s draw with Wigan Athletic, is up against Jason Demetriou (Southend United), Ruben Lameiras (Plymouth Argyle) and Joe Newell (Rotherham United).

He previously won the League One player of the month prize in August 2015.

Mowbray, who won the November prize, is shortlisted once again after leading Rovers to four wins and a draw from their six matches last month.

Rovers saw their unbeaten run ended at Plymouth before coming back to draw against Oldham. They followed that up with four consecutive wins over Portsmouth, Bury, Walsall and AFC Wimbledon.

The panel said: “A busy month in which his entertaining side opened up a four-point lead at the top of League One with four victories and a draw from their six matches.”

Mowbray is up against Chris Powell (Southend United), Derek Adams (Plymouth Argyle) and Paul Warne (Rotherham United).

The winners will be announced on Friday.
