ORGANISERS behind a £1million hospital appeal are reminding people that it is not just cash they can give to help hit the target.

The appeal by ELHT&Me, the official charity of East Lancashire Hospitals Trust (ELHT), is encouraging local businesses, institutions and individuals to support get involved.

Denise Gee, fundraising manager for the charity said: “There are lots of ways that individuals and companies can support the £1million appeal.

“They can hold their own fundraising event, do a sponsored event or activity, go to the ELHT&Me donation page at www.elht.nhs.uk/elht-and-me or call the charity team on 01254 732140 to make a donation directly.

“Local firms and individuals can also support us by donating prizes and goods that we can use to raise money.

“And people are also very welcome to become an ELHT&Me volunteer.

“We are encouraging people to show support for their local hospitals and help reach the £1 million appeal in whatever way possible.

“A small donation, a school or office dress-down day, a collection amongst friends or a sponsored run will do so much.”

As the NHS celebrates its 70th birthday this year, the appeal is raising money for new equipment, improving facilities and enhancing the patient environment at its hospitals.

These are the two acute (Royal Blackburn and Burnley General) and three community hospitals (Accrington Victoria, Clitheroe and Pendle).

The appeal is raising much-needed funds to make more improvements in seven areas including children and babies' health and supporting cancer patients and improving equipment.

Other areas include improving women’s health, men’s health, making patient areas more friendly and improving the patient experience.
