A NURSING associate apprenticeship programme is aiming to recruit more nurses.

As part of National Apprenticeship Week (March 5 to March 9), Lancashire Care is working in partnership with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and NHS organisations to deliver The Nursing Associate Programme in Lancashire.

The trust said the nursing associate role will allow the trust to grow its current workforce and provide new opportunities to experienced health care support workers.

Nursing associate trainees will be paid, whilst attending university one day per week and will have the opportunity to attend clinical placements in a range of different learning environments.

The course will provide the opportunity for them to be able to administer medicines, perform clinical procedures, care plan, risk assess and many more skills relevant to their scope of practice.
