A BRAND new theatre school is to open in Bolton.

Taylor’s Theatre Academy is the brainchild of 30-year-old Stacey Taylor - after she finished travelling the world and returned home to Bolton she decided something was missing.

Stacey said: "Something like this is needed in our area - there's not much to do for kids. I grew up in Bolton and started training at three-years-old and I had to travel to go and do the classes - I want to change that now and where better to do it than the place I grew up."

Stacey trained at Liverpool Theatre School & College. She has starred in musicals such as Fame & Grease in Italy, and has most recently been lead production singer and dancer on numerous cruise ships.

She said: "Growing up I have been trained by some amazing people so now feels the time is right to give something back to a fantastic community, and provide these children with lessons in an industry I hold close to my heart."

Stacy will run the school with help from her sister, Julie Ashton who is also a professional dancer. They will hold weekly classes for children aged three to 17 to provide them with skills, taught to them by industry professionals - who will also be visiting as special guests.

It will also aim to be a place for children to meet new friends, socialise, build confidence, and have Fun.

The academy will be held at St James Church in Breightmet and will hold shows throughout the year including: pop concerts, pantomimes and summer shows. There will also be festivals held in the church back yard where they will hope to raise money to visit events and shows across Manchester and London.

Taylor’s Theatre Academy will be holding an open day on the January 27 at St James Church, Breightmet, Bolton BL26HU. It will run from 12 noon to 2pm.

Parents and children can attend to meet the team, take a look around and sign up.

The first class will take place the following Saturday, February 3.
