A 27-YEAR-OLD man has been airlifted to hospital after being run over twice by a car in a hit-and-run.
The incident happened at around 11.40am in Southfield Street in Nelson.
Police said the man was hit by a Volkswagen vehicle and was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital with potential leg and head injuries.
Officers are investigating the incident and are still searching for who was driving the car.
A police spokesman said: "The victim has been ran over twice.
"Other vehicles were also damaged in the incident.
"He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with possible leg and head injuries.
"We are still searching for those who were in the car."
Two fire engines from Nelson and the urban search and rescue team from Chorley attended along with police and ambulance services.
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "Firefighters assisted ambulance crews in transferring the casualty to an air ambulance, and also made the scene safe."
