A MOVING service brought together music and memories in Bolton.

More than 500 people gathered for the Light up the Life event at Bolton Parish Church on last night.

Organised by Bolton Hospice, it featured music from Bolton Senior Brass Group and readings from volunteers.

Fundraiser Mark Cassidy said: “The service was very poignant and moving.

“Many of the people who attend have a link to the hospice, but many simply come to remember a loved one. It’s a lovely way for families to remember someone special who is missed at Christmas.”

St Peter and St Paul’s R.C.P School and Our Lady of Lourdes R.C Primary School choirs also performed and there was a blessing of the Light up a Life and countdown to the switch on.

Hospice bereavement and spiritual care lead John Hall, added: "It was wonderful to see the Parish Church packed with over 500 people and there was a lovely atmosphere, both of giving thanks and a time of reflection."
