A CAR burst into flames outside homes in Egerton in the middle of the night.

The silver Ford Focus reportedly crashed into a wall before going up in flames opposite the Bistro 341 restaurant, in Blackburn Road.

Lucas Anderson, who took this photo, was driving home at around 3.10am on Sunday when he saw the blaze.

He said: "I was on my way home and I saw that there was a load of smoke. It was a big fire, the car had exploded."

A fire crew from Darwen confirmed that they had attended the scene. It is not currently known whether anyone was injured.
