CONTROVERSIAL plans have been lodged to demolish a former day care centre and allotments and garages.
Blackburn with Darwen council wants to bulldoze the old Tower View Day Centre, in Tower View, Darwen.
Under the bid, adjacent allotments and garages would also be demolished to make way for ‘future re-development.’
The plans have prompted anger from allotment owners, who said removing their plots will leave the area looking like a ‘barren wasteland’.
The plot owners at Tower View received notice earlier this year that they were being moved off the site to allow the council to ‘bulldoze’ the land.
But like the neighbouring Bailey's Field, which has been earmarked for housing since the 90's, council bosses are hoping the flat will encourage housing developers to invest.
The council hopes to carry out the demolition from late November this year.
