ONE of Bolton's top performing students has shared the secret of his success — deleting his social media accounts.

Shutting down his Facebook and Twitter page, along with any other social media accounts, plus lots of hard work paid off for Muhiyud-Dean Mirza whose sacrifice led him to achieving a phenomenal five A*.

The 18-year-old, from Smithills who attends Bolton School, will now study maths at Warwick University.

He said: "I deleted my social media accounts and I stayed in school until 6pm and it was all worth it.

"I kept my Messenger account so I could talk about work but that was it."

Now the teenager is back in the social digital age and looking forward to the future.

Pal Jack Virgin also gained five A* at Bolton School and will be studying maths at Oxford and the secret of his success lay in time management.

The heat is off now for Jordan Simpson, aged 18, who is now closer to achieving his dream career to work in the fire service

After achieving top grades at Bolton Sixth Form College he is now to go to Wolverhampton University to study fire and rescue.

Jordan said: "I have been a cadet for five years and this course will be interesting."

The college was also celebrating the results of Carly Dobbins who has won a sponsorship with leading firm KPMG to fulfil her ambition to become an accountant.

She was chosen from more than 1,000 people and will escape university debt. Mariya Makkan, moved sixth forms, to achieve three A*s to study optometry at Manchester University.

She said: "The college encourages you and pushes you to achieve your potential."

Bolton Sixth Form College's results place it five per cent above the national rates for post-16 advanced level providers and students have gone on to secure places at leading universities.
