MOURNERS gathered together and a church bell rang across Daisy Hill as mum-of-three Polly Haydock was laid to rest.

The service for Polly, who died aged 37 after a brave battle with cancer, was held at St James' Church.

More than 100 people looked on as Polly was carried into the church as the song Fields of Gold played.

Her husband Dan Haydock gave a touching tribute in the form of a letter to his late wife, who he described as his 'baby' and 'best friend'.

As well as thanking friends and family for their support, he also praised everyone who had helped to raise money for the Polly's Angels fund, which included Bolton comedian Peter Kay.

Onlookers said prayers and sang hymn All Things Bright And Beautiful before the final commendation.

Polly, who lived in Atherton and was a former Westhoughton resident, was carried out to the tune of Somewhere Over The Rainbow before a committal at Howe Bridge Crematorium.
