MUMS and toddlers will have a chance to get outside and active thanks to a £550 grant from Bury council.

The money has been awarded to A COMMUNITY organisation is hoping to get children and young mums outside and active, having been awarded £500 from Bury Council.

Ramsbottom Together, a new organisation that has been created to build on the success of the Ramsbottom Great Get Together event in June. It hopes to use the money to restart an outdoor parent and toddler group in Nuttall Park in the town.

Organiser Clare Cummins said: “When I have been speaking to mums they have said it would be very good to get it back up and running. A lot of these types of things can price out people, but this one would be very inexpensive and aimed at ordinary people.”

Ms Cummins said Ramsbottom Together has been set up to organise more community inclusive ‘get togethers’ and to enable local people to feel part of a community. She added: “We recognise that some members of our community are sometimes lonely and isolated and also don’t necessarily know that events are going on and our aim is to reach out to such people and involve them in community activities. Whether it is elderly people or young mums, we don’t want anybody to be isolated.”

The group is also planning to use some of the funding to support mental health charity START in Manchester Road, Bury.
