ARMED police were called to Blackburn after a man allegedly threatened his neighbour with a firearm.

Police said the incident is alleged to have happened in Bonsall Street, Blackburn at around 5pm this evening.

A 51-year-old man from Blackburn has been arrested on suspicion of common assault, possession of a firearm and possession of drugs. He is in police custody this evening.

Inspector Dave Wilson said the incident was between two men who know each other and there was no risk to the wider public.

Insp Wilson said; "We received a call about 5pm this evening to say an occupant in Bonsall Street, Blackburn, had been threatened with a weapon by a man that he knew. Armed officers have attended and made an arrest at an address nearby.

"I would like to stress there is no risk to the public. It is believed to be a dispute between two individuals who know each other."
