A STUDENT from Blackburn scooped first prize in a competition which has led to her winning her first experience of a design studio.

Farzana Ali, 21, a graphic communication student at Blackburn College's University Centre won first prize in Display Wizard’s student graphic design competition which attracts entrants from across the country.

The competition asked students to propose two exhibition stand designs for their university or college which showcased the best cultural or social aspects of their course.

The exhibition stands were evaluated on how consistent their branding was, their appeal to new students and the stand dimensions.

Sally Hiscutt, director of Display Wizard which is based in Garstang, said Farzana's design was very imaginative and well-designed.

"Farzana has clearly thought deeply about the brief which is great to see."

"To receive an award in this competition is a very big achievement considering the number and quality of entrants we received. We are hopeful this competition will help the students when pursuing their future career."

Farzana, who is currently undertaking her placement at Display Wizard said: "This is my first experience of a design studio environment. I’m really glad I entered the competition. So far I have created some social media visuals, created some e-mail campaigns and done some photoshop work."
