CALLS have been made to up patrols in area of Burnley after a man was spotted exposing himself in public.

Police said a man was seen acting ‘suspiciously’ in the Gannow Top on Tuesday evening.

As well as exposing himself, the man was also seen taking photographs of children.

The man was described as having long, overgrown hair with glasses. He was dressed all in navy and was wearing black boots.

The man was described as between 50 and 55-years-old and carrying a black satchel.

Cllr Neil Mottershead, who represents the area on Burnley Council, said this is an extremely concerning incident.

He said: “This sort of behaviour clearly needs to be stopped, that means more patrols in the area.

“Parents need to remain vigilant and make sure they know where their children are and know they are with someone or are safe.

“This type of thing is rare but it doesn’t mean its not worrying.

“I would urge anyone who saw this to come forward and help the police with their investigations.

“With our help the police will be able to trace the man who did this and get it sorted out quickly and efficiently.”

A police spokesman said: “A man has been seen acting suspicious in the Gannow Top area of Burnley.

“We believe there may have been a number of witnesses in the area and we would appreciate it if they could come forward.

“Any help would be greatly appreciated.”
