BOXER Amir Khan has called for the nation to unite in the face of terror — and hit out against the so called Islamic State.

Speaking on the BBC News, the Bolton boxer said: “There are always a lot more good people like myself. I like to be a role model to many other Muslim young kids out there to follow in my footsteps to do positive things.”

He added: “I think what needs to happen is all the communities need to get together.”

Posts on the official Amir Khan Facebook Page state: “ISIS destroys more mosques than churches. ISIS kills more Muslims than non-Muslims. It’s utterly ridiculous to say, ‘ISIS represents Islam’.”

Another reads: “Those that preach evil won’t divide us. We need to come together as one nation”.

One man died from multiple injuries while several others were injured in an incident outside a mosque at Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park, London on Monday.

Darren Osborne, aged 47, from Cardiff, appeared in court on Friday charged with murder and attempted murder.

Unemployed Osborne spoke only to confirm his identity when he appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court. No further details were given in court about the number of attempted murder charges.

He will appear at the Old Bailey tomorrow for a preliminary hearing.
