A 38-YEAR-OLD man attacked a dad when a row started over the behaviour of his two-year-old son.

Blackburn magistrates heard Jason Ronnie Morgan swung a right hook at the dad but he responded with an upper cut before restraining his attacker.

Morgan, of Sapphire Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assaulting Scott Brown and two charges of assaulting Helena Jervis.

He was sentenced to eight weeks in prison.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said the incident involving Mr Brown happened at Blackburn bus station where the victim’s son was running around.

“The defendant and his partner were both in drink and she said something about the child’s behaviour,” said Miss Allan. “There was an exchange of words before the defendant swung a punch at Mr Brown. He responded with an uppercut and while he was restraining Morgan he was attacked by the female.”

Miss Allan said the attacks on Miss Jervis were domestic incidents involving his partner.

On the first occasion she was asleep in bed when he came in drunk and dragged her out by her hair.

The second, 10 days later, occurred while she was at home watching TV when he punched her for no reason.

“She went to bed but he followed and kept telling her he hated her,” said Miss Allan. “She decided enough was enough and left the house and reported the matter to the police.”

Keith Bamber, defending, said alcohol was the common theme in all the offences.

“He accepts a prison sentence will follow and he will use the time to get his head together and sort himself out,” said Mr Bamber.
