A WOMAN has been convicted in court and ordered to pay £180 in fines and costs for failing to clean up her dog’s waste.
Kelly Tootle, of Avenue Parade, Accrington, pleaded guilty to breaching the Borough of Hyndburn Dog Control (Fouling of Land) Order 2007.
This was after she failed to clean up after her dog fouled in a grass verge in Avenue Parade.
Craig Haraben, deputy head of environmental services at Hyndburn Council, said: “The council’s dog warden saw a white terrier type dog which was not on a lead returning to Miss Tootle’s property after fouling the verge at Avenue Parade.
“The dog warden issued Miss Tootle with a fixed penalty notice which she didn’t pay and therefore the council took her to court where she was ordered to pay £180 in fines and costs.”
In February the council began offering a £50 reward for people who helped to catch those guilty of failing to clean up after their pets.
