CHILDREN from across Renfrewshire proved they were good sports as they took part in the St Mirren Shooting Starzz Basketball Camp in 2003.

The event attracted an impressive turnout at Paisley Grammar School, proving to be a slam-dunkin’ success with the kids.

Organisers had high hoops that some of the participants would one day play for their school, local club or even a NBA side.

The fun was organised by St Mirren Basketball Club and saw two camps established for boys and girls in the Paisley area.

A Western Conference camp was arranged for children in P4 and P5, while an Eastern Conference attracted P6 and P7 pupils, with prizes handed out to the best performers.

Chief executive of Basketball Paisley, Lindsay Lang, said at the time: “This was certainly the place to be for young kids during the Easter break.

“Paisley Grammar School is a great central venue and the fantastic thing was that all of these youngsters met new friends from all over Paisley and had the time of their life.’’
