BUSINESSES across the region today said just how important our trusted news services were to them - and their success.

Last week, we launched a campaign Fighting Fake News and highlighted the very real dangers of fabricated stories peddled across social media.

We pointed out the lengths we go to to get every story right - from extensive training to upholding some of the most robust standards on the planet.

It is a campaign that is being supported by local papers across the UK.

This week, businesses who depend on newspapers and websites to advertise their services explained why our trusted news reflected well on them - and underpinned their values of quality and care.

G and G Carpets of Blackburn Road, Bolton have advertised with the Bolton News for nearly four decades.

Salesman, Michael Newns, explained why the business continues to advertise with the newspaper.

He said: “It’s a trusted, quality newspaper that people recognise and depend on.

“We’ve been advertising with the Bolton News for nearly 40 years now. It’s the only place we advertise.

“People know the business through the Bolton News and will often say they came to us after seeing their advertisement in the newspaper.

“It reflects well on us as a business that our adverts appear in a source that people trust.”

Bristol Street Motors is one of Bolton’s most trusted car dealerships.

General manager, Darren Murray, said that the company took pride in their association with the Bolton News.

He said: “As a business, it’s important that we’re seen to be advertising with trusted brands that reflect the high standards of quality and care that we offer our customers.

The Bolton News has been serving the people of the town for 150 years. It’s a well-known and reliable source of information which we’re proud to be associated with.”
