THE Glory of Gershwin comes to town on Saturday when Bolton Symphony Orchestra joins forces with Bolton Catholic Musical & Choral Society.
As well as featuring the work of George Gershwin, there will also be music from Leonard Bernstein’s ever popular West Side Story.
The Gershwin aspect of the concert will include An American in Paris and also his famous opera, Porgy and Bess, with the well-known songs: Summertime, I Got Plenty o’ Nuttin’, and It Ain’t Necessarily So.
Carolyn Baxendale MBE will be conducting and the concert will also feature two outstanding soloists — recently graduated Isabelle Peters and also Njabulo Madlala, a South African born baritone, with many prestigious engagements and broadcasts under his belt.
The concert at the Victoria Hall starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £10 for adults and entirely free for Under 19s. Call the box office on 01204 522569.
