TWO creative youngsters got their hands on a giant chocolatey treat each after they won the Bury Times’ and Radcliffe Times’ annual Design an Egg competition.

Llorenna Hodgskinson, from Redvales, Bury, and Eloise Crook, from Radcliffe, were chosen as this year’s winners of the Easter event.

Both girls go to Old Hall Primary School in Bury, where teachers encouraged them to enter the competition.

Both received a massive chocolate Easter egg donated by Slattery chocolatier in Whitefield.

Llorenna, aged eight, said: “It feels really good to have won.

“I started by doing a pattern around the top, but I didn’t think it was Easter-y enough, so I did some bunting and a rainbow.

“I was also did a blue sky, because Easter is the start of spring.”

Eloise Crook, aged seven, said she was “really happy” to have won the prize.

Both girls said they will share the eggs with their friends and teachers at school.

They both received a ‘star of the week’ commendation at school for their achievements, for which they were both presented with a certificate and a sticker.

Both girls’ mothers said they were very proud of their daughters.

Llorenna’s mother Linda Wood, aged 45, said: “I’m delighted for them both.

“Llorenna has always been very creative.”

Eloise’s mother Charlotte Granger, aged 32, said: “The prizes are great, I’m very happy for them.”

Both mothers said they wanted to thank the school for entering the girls into the competition and supporting them, as well as Slattery for donating the eggs.
