“COME on you Whites!” That’s the message from Bolton’s famous faces as the town rallies behind the Wanderers ahead of their crunch promotion clash this afternoon.

Phil Parkinson’s men can seal promotion back to the Championship today with victory over Port Vale if Fleetwood fail to win.

More than 4,000 fans are heading to Vale Park to support the team.

Local politicians and celebrities have been passing on good luck messages ahead of the crunch game.

Phoenix Nights and Take Me Out star, Paddy McGuinness, said: “Good luck to Parky and everyone behind the scenes at BWFC. It’ll be a massive boost for our town when we get back into the Championship! I can almost taste those prawn sandwiches.”

Comedian and avid Whites fan Stu Francis will be spending the day nervously pacing as he waits for scores to come in.

He said: “I was there on Tuesday night for the Bury match and I thought here we go, this has to be our night.

“I’m very nervous. at this moment in time. All the best to each and every one of the players.

"Come on you Whites big time.”

Local politicians have also joined in the rallying calls.

Cllr John Walsh has not missed a match this season.

He said: “It is a very big weekend and we hope the wait will be over by Saturday night.

“After the disappointment of last season, it will be good to get over the line this week and go into the final match knowing that promotion is secured.

“Having been at every match this season,

"I want to see us go out on a high and I won’t be missing this one.”

Councillor Cliff Morris, leader of Bolton Council, added “It’s been quite a journey and I am very proud of the Wanderers. We’ve proven that as the underdogs we can do it. We can get back on top and we have fought for it.

“I wish the team best of best of luck. It’s great for our town and we’ll be cheering them on.”
