POLICE and the fire service were called after a large group of youths started a bonfire and were reported climbing on roofs in the town centre.

Emergency services were called to Back Bark Street, off Pool Street, at around 7pm last night.

The fire service found that the youths had used wood to start a bonfire which they had also thrown accelerant on to.

The youths were also climbing on the roofs of nearby buildings so the fire service called the police.

The youths had left the area by the time police arrived.

Carl Greaves, watch manager at Bolton Central Fire Station, said it was the tenth time crews had been called to that area for this sort of fire in the past two years.
