THIS scene will be familiar to many people who travel into Bolton town centre from either Chorley Old Road or Chorley New Road.
This is where those two roads become St Georges Road but this particular photograph was clearly taken many decades ago.
Just how long ago it was taken is a mystery to us as the photograph, found in our archives, does not have a date on the back.
Perhaps some of our readers can help date it from the style of the cars and the shops that can be seen in the road.
The pub on the right hand side was called The Crofters but it is empty today with a tree growing rather strangely from the chimney pot as it has been abandoned so long.
It would appear that not only are there many shops along St Georges Road, particularly on the left hand side, but there are also a number of private houses.
No doubt the householders found it extremely handy to be living so close to Bolton town centre.
There is also a cafe on the left hand side too. Certainly this road is no way near as busy as it is today.
