Youngsters are finding out which secondary school they will be attending from this September but tens of thousands of youngsters are likely to miss out on their first choice of place.
Around half a million families are finding out which school they have been allocated on National Offer Day.
Early figures show in some parts of the country virtually all youngsters have been offered their first choice while, in others, many are facing disappointment.
Last year, around one in six (15.9%) did not get their top preference, amid a 2.8% rise in applications - 548,006 submitted in total.
Overall figures for this year will not be released by the Department for Education until June.
We are looking at the picture in Bolton and would like to hear from you.
Are you the parent of a child who has landed a place at their favoured school? Or perhaps they were not given first choice. Will this cause any issues for your family?
